How to defend your Orange Grove from the Fruit Fly
Guided Fight
When we are asked to set up a strategy against the citrus fly, today it is no longer conceivable to conduct a calendar fight, as was customary in distant times both for environmental impact and costs, but it is important to follow a guided type of fight.
In modern agriculture, the thing that seems appropriate to recommend, first of all, is to install yellow chromotropic traps with the sex pheromone of Ceratitis Capitata to monitor the presence of the phytophagus and establish more precisely the times of the treatments to be carried out.
Setting Traps
It is important to place the traps starting from the end of July.
At this stage, it may also be useful to intervene with nutrition, first of all to improve the organoleptic characteristics of the fruits, then precisely to improve the success of the defense.
Phytosanitary treatment
Our suggestion:
Check the chromotropic traps daily, when a high number of catches are found in a few days (2-5 days), it is advisable to carry out a phytosanitary treatment by intervening promptly.
