CITRUS FRUITS - How to reduce production alternation

Alternation in citrus production

Second intervention: Energy for plants - Flowering induction
Introduction
After a year of agronomic management focused on improving the quality and quantity of the crop, it is essential to think about future productivity. This objective will only be guaranteed if the plants receive such well-being and balance as to allow a constant increase in production indices. In this context, the farmer must try to prevent any possible phase of stress for the plant, with particular attention to citrus fruits, subject to the phenomenon of production alternation.
The importance of the post-harvest phase for citrus fruits
The post-harvest phase is crucial for the future of the plant. Correct interventions at this stage can help prevent alternation in citrus production, ensuring more consistent flowering and fruiting year after year. Proper nutrition and care of plants in the post-harvest period can make a difference to the productivity of future seasons.
Alternation in citrus production
One of the most common problems in citrus cultivation is the alternation of production, i.e. the inability of the plant to have constant flowering and fruiting. This phenomenon is caused by various factors, including incorrect nutritional and water management, irregular pruning, and alterations in the plant's hormonal and nutritional balance. Addressing this problem requires targeted and balanced interventions.

The interventions to start the citrus season in the best possible way are:
First Intervention: Protective
- INEX-A : 30 ml/hl (improve the solution)
- WELGRO Cu/Zn = 200 gr/hl of water
The first operation we will carry out within the first week after harvest will be to use WELGRO CU-ZN, which will have a dual function: to disinfect the wounds caused by harvesting cuts and to increase the formation of natural defenses.
The mixture of these microelements also has a stimulating function for new vegetation.
WELGRO CU-ZN is a copper and zinc-based fertilizer which, thanks to its micronized particles, adheres perfectly to the leaves and surface of the plant. It is able to perform its function slowly but over time. Inex-a has a surfactant action, which improves the performance of the surgery.
Second intervention: Energy for plants - Flowering induction
- INEX-A : 30 ml/hl (improve the solution)
- GREEN MIX CITRUS FRUITS: 250 ml / hl
- PLANTAFOL 30.10.10 : 300 gr/hl
- FURIA : 400 gr / hl - organic fertilizer based on selected fulvic acids and very pure amino acids. Natural plant growth regulators with flowering induction. It has a biostimulating power that promotes fruit set.
It is recommended to repeat this treatment after 7 - 10 days in case you do not see new flower buds.
In the introductory paragraph we mentioned a typical problem of citrus cultivation : ALTERNATION. The cause of this situation is mainly attributable to incorrect nutritional and water management and irregular pruning over the years, as well as other factors such as:
- Carbohydrate balance;
- Metabolic alterations through nitrogenous nutrition;
- Alteration of the hormonal balance;
- Hormonal and nutritional interaction.
The use of the products mentioned in the 2nd INTERVENTION has precisely the function of rebalancing and balancing these functions.
