Citrus allupatura is a fungal disease caused by fungi of the genus Phytophthora, such as Phytophthora parasitica and Phytophthora cactorum. These pathogens mainly attack the bark of the trunk in the collar area, causing desiccant spots that reduce lymphatic flow to the canopy. If left untreated, this condition can lead to partial or total death of the plant.
In addition to the trunk, Phytophthora also affect the roots, causing root rot. This manifests itself in the canopy with smaller, discolored leaves and desiccation of the twigs. In autumn, especially in humid and rainy conditions, fungi also attack the fruits, causing the rot known as "allupatura". The affected fruits become soft, foul-smelling and become covered with gray mold.
Prevention of Citrus Allupatura
Prevention is the fundamental strategy to effectively manage citrus allupatura. In recent years, it has emerged that adequate nutrition plays a crucial role in strengthening plant resistance against this disease. A valuable ally in this context is Kyprion, a special fertilizer based on copper gluconate, enriched with essential microelements. This product not only nourishes the plant, but indirectly acts on its natural defense mechanisms.
Regular use of Kyprion, both by foliar application and in fertigation at a dose of 2 lt/ha, stimulates the production of inducers of natural resistance, helping the plant to strengthen its barriers against fungal attacks, such as those caused by Phytophthora. In addition, Kyprion helps to improve the plant's tolerance to environmental stresses, making it more robust and less vulnerable to adverse conditions.
Treatments against allupatura in Organic Farming
If you practice organic farming, copper-based products are the most effective in preventing allupatura. Here are some preventative treatments you can apply:
Cupravit WG = 350 gr/hl - for leaf protection.
Soybean oil = 150 ml/hl - to prolong the treatment effect and improve the resistance of the fruits.
Regular use of these products, especially after rainy periods, is crucial for maintaining plant health and preventing the onset of allupatura.

Conclusions
Citrus allupatura is a serious disease but preventable with careful management. It is important to follow a preventive strategy that includes copper-based treatments for those who follow organic, or chemical solutions for those looking for a more traditional approach.
