Introduction
Spring weather conditions and excessive humidity are ideal conditions for the development and proliferation of lichens and moss in the lawn. Moss, in particular, tends to be generated mostly in those spaces of our turf that are created due to little exposure to the sun and which, therefore, struggle to vegetate at their best. What are the damages that we can observe? At first, asphyxiation will be generated and, subsequently, the lawn will deteriorate definitively.
Throughout this article, we will try to support you, providing you not only with information on what moss is and why it forms on your lawn, but also and above all by offering you effective solutions. Let's get to the point:

Moss in the Lawn: Why It Forms
Let's start by saying that when we talk about moss we refer to primitive weeds that invade our garden and that develop especially in shady and humid areas, where it is very difficult for water to evaporate due to poor water recirculation. Unlike turf, moss, having a very unrobust root system, absorbs the necessary water from the leaves and needs fewer nutrients and less light in order to survive.
The causes of its formation can be varied. The formation of moss, in fact, could depend on:
- excessive cutting: the turf, in this case, as a response to this cause of stress will have less energy to maintain its vigor and will be more prone to the birth of weeds
- Quality of the seeds used: the choice of seeds to be used is particularly relevant. Some types, for example, are not particularly suitable for resisting in shaded areas.
- presence of foliage on the lawn: the presence of foliage on the lawn, not allowing the oxygenation of the grass, will lead the turf to decay and this situation will be fertile ground for the propagation of moss in the lawn.
- Nutrient deficiency
These are just some of the causes that can cause the presence of moss. But how to eliminate it?

Especially during the first summer heat, it is necessary for the turf to have sufficient amounts of iron, copper or zinc. The presence of these microelements, in fact, strengthens our garden making it less prone to yellowing. Both for any yellowing and for moss, our advice is to use a particular anti-moss:
The recommended product
It is a fertilizer that promotes the growth of grass in the garden which, thanks to the sulfur and copper contained within it, makes it more competitive against moss and more resistant to mold.
Our advice is to proceed with fertilization (dosage: 20g/sqm) in periods of intense growth and greater root absorption activity (Autumn-Spring). However, you can fertilize when yellowing occurs in any season
