CROP+ is a bioactivator of plant metabolism produced by Verdesian and distributed in Italy by Agricola Internazionale. CROP+ is obtained through a multi-stage fermentation process of plant extracts, to which complex micronutrients such as zinc, manganese and copper are added. CROP+ is rich in polyphenols and osmoprotective compounds, metabolically active molecules, which give the product a high antioxidant capacity equal to 10000 Hmol Trolox eq/100 g of product. Crop+ mitigates stress in high temperature conditions and improves kiwi photosynthetic activity
In the 2022 season in the Metapontino area, Basilicata, in collaboration with Agreenment Spin-off of the University of Basilicata, CROP+ was tested on yellow kiwi (Actinidia chinensis) var, G3 with the aim of evaluating and comparing some physiological and productive parameters of treated and untreated plants. CROP+ was used five times starting from the length of the shoots between 20 - 40 cm. Subsequent treatments were repeated at 10-day intervals until the end of June, in order to enhance the response of the plants under abiotic stress conditions. The results showed that kiwi plants treated with CROP+ showed a significant increase in stomatal conductance under high temperature conditions, which translates as follows: The better the conductance, the greater the photosynthetic activity. The 2022 summer season was characterized by a long period of high temperatures. Prolonged periods of heat can slow down numerous physiological activities of the plant. In these conditions, the untreated plants showed a decrease in photosynthetic activity and consequently less energy available to be distributed to the various organs of the plant, showing a drop in yields and a significant drop in fruit compared to plants treated with CROP+.
The use of CROP+ starting from the vegetative recovery of the kiwi helps the plant to make the most of its reserves and improves metabolism. In our experience, the application of exogenous antioxidants, osmoprotectors and manganese, which catalyzes the formation of chlorophyll, improve photosynthetic activity, allowing the plant to have more energy.
