What is BASF EliteSea?
EliteSea™ is a plant biostimulant based on extract of Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, harvested in the pristine waters of the North Atlantic. Manufactured by BASF and certified for use in organic farming, this biostimulant is formulated without microorganisms, to promote plant growth in a natural and sustainable way. Thanks to its environmentally friendly extraction process, it keeps intact the bioactive components that promote crop development, such as alginic acids, mannitol, fucoidans and organic acids.

Applications of EliteSea™
Foliar Applications
EliteSea™ can be used for many crops with specific dosages and frequencies for best results:
Fruit crops
- Pome fruits, stone fruits and other fruit trees: 2.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications from post-fruit set to fruit development.
- Citrus fruits: 2.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications from flowering to the fruit development stage.
- Wine and table vines: 2.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications from the beginning of vegetative development to the development of the bunch.
Vegetables and Herbaceous Crops
- Fruiting vegetables in greenhouses and open fields (e.g. tomato, cucurbits): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications from post-transplant to full fruit development.
- Leafy vegetables in greenhouses and open fields (e.g. lettuce, salads): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 post-transplant applications at full crop development.
- Brassicas (e.g. cauliflower, fennel, celery): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 post-transplant applications at full development of the crop.
- Root and tuber vegetables (e.g. potatoes, carrots, radishes): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications from post-transplant to full development of the crop.
Other Crops
Stem vegetables
- (e.g. asparagus, celery, fennel, artichokes): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications every 14 days.
Strawberries
- 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications every 14 days.
Berries
- (e.g. blackberries, raspberries, blueberries): 1.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-6 applications every 14-21 days.
Fertigation
EliteSea™ is compatible with fertigation techniques, supporting the root development of plants.
Doses for fertigation:
- Horticultural and ornamental crops: 2.0 - 3.0 L/ha, 3-4 applications to promote root development.
Compatibility with Other Products
EliteSea™ is compatible with most commonly used insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and fertilizers . It is recommended to perform a preliminary compatibility test before mixing EliteSea™ with other products. Avoid mixtures with very high or very low pH.
Handling and Storage
- Storage: Store EliteSea™ in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures. Keep it closed in its original packaging between -5°C and 40°C to preserve the effectiveness of the product.
- Shelf life: The product is valid for 3 years from the date of manufacture.
